Baby V #2: telling the family!

When we found out on Valentine's day that we were expecting we knew it was meant to be so we had To tell our parents! I took a picture with Lexi in her big sister shirt next to her oven with the sign and sent it to my dad. He was sooooo excited! He later told my mom, but that's a whole different story. Then, we skyped Ryan's mom that evening and showed her Lexi. She caught on pretty quick! She thought that we were playing an April fools joke on her. She was so excited!

Immediately I txt Rachel and asked her if we could have a game night Saturday night and we set that up. I figured it would be the perfect time to tell everyone. Saturday finally came around and we went to tell my great aunt and grandpa first. Lexi had her big sister shirt and I had to tell her to read it but she got it quickly then. Grandpa didn't quite understand what was going on until after. Lexi's pie (her godfather/parrain) apparently knew even though I told Ryan not to say anything! We walked into aunt Gigi's house with Lexi still wearing her shirt and no one really got it. Haha. I told Rachel to read her shirt and she freaked out! She was so excited- she definitely had the best reaction out of everyone. It made my heart so happy! DJ showed up with a cake that said 'congratulations Ryan and Danielle' people read it but still didn't quite get it. After a while the news spread like wildfire. It was such a fun night and we are so blessed to be expecting baby #2! Everyone thinks Roo is a boy, me included. I just have this gut feeling. More on this later :)

Baby V #2 Details

This is going to be a very detailed post, so if you skip, I won't be offended! I am trying to think of a super cute name to call this baby before it has a real name, maybe something will come to me when we see the u/s.

Beginning of this year all of a sudden I got some major baby fever! Around Lexi's second birthday we started talking about the possibilities of us wanting a second baby. We had an insurance issue that needed to be figured it out so we pushed it out of our minds. Fast forward to about the 5th-ish of January and everything fell into place perfectly! The whole time we had been praying 'Bless it or block it'. We pray that for all of our major decisions. I think it is such a strong prayer and I just love it so much! I had an IUD in, and have since Lexi was 6 weeks, but it was starting to give me problems and with trying to conceive we decided it would be best to get it removed. This is where it gets TMI, but I want to remember so I'm writing this. I haven't had a period since before I got pregnant with Lexi. I had Lexi, then the postpartum, then the IUD and that made my cycles disappear. My appt was January 16, 2013. January 11-12 I was hurtin really bad and didn't know why but assumed it was my IUD again. Then, I started bleeding. Well when I got my IUd taken out (1-16-2013) my OB confirmed that it was in fact my period. That wasn't a coincidence to me! So I got the all clear for us to try to conceive. Helman said that it could take a few months for my cycles to regulate but that didn't mean I wouldn't get pregnant right away. He said I could literally get pregnant that night. When I was leaving he said 'see you soon'! I started my prenatals the next day.

Fast forward a week and a day an I was back in his office due to pain on my lower right side. It felt like round ligament to me (a first symptom of pregnancy) but I have had this pain before so I wasn't sure. He checked me and had me get an ultrasound done to make sure there were no cysts. He also ran cultures to check for any infections causing the pain. Everything came back normal. I asked him how far along I would have to be for him to be able to tell I was pregnant and he said two weeks, at least. I asked the ultrasound tech and she said u/s is 3 weeks.
February 2 I had about 4-5 hrs of really bad cramping and then it went away. I figured it was due to my period being due in a week, so I didn't pay much attention. February 9th I was scheduled to start my period but honestly I didn't know when to expect it bc it was my second cycle in three years. Saturday morning no period but I had symptoms that could go either way so I tested. I saw a very very faint line! I txt two friends to see if they saw it and they both did. Then I took another. No second line. Okay, weird. Sunday morning nothing and negative test. This is where in going to leave off :) I'm going to include the test with the very, very faint line.

Weekend Recap!

This weekend was a busy but great one! Friday night we went and used our final gift card from Christmas at Applebee's and then went to get Lexi some new shoes at Target! The girl has outgrown all her shoes so she desperately needed some. I've been looking for weeks with no luck. Thankfully, we found her some! And I got Croc's for $5 for her. Score! Then we went home and relaxed and watched Friends with Benefits again. And headed to bed late even though we had an early day. Saturday morning Ryan worked and Lex and I ran errands. He came home and we headed into Nola! I had my Origami Owl party that night and had such a fun Time! Then Sunday was Super Bowl Sunday so we decided since the Super Bowl was in New Orleans this year we would go check it out. It was AWESOME! There were people everywhere! The city really came alive. We had a ton of fun! Then we headed home to watch the game and hang out. We had two friends come over and it was a great night! We had Middendorf's for finner an it was delicious!! I am feeling so very blessed lately! God is good!

Origami Owl Independent Designer

On January 3, 2012 a new journey began for me! I became an Origami Owl Independent Designer. For those of you who don't know who or what Origami Owl is- Origami Owl is a new company designed by a sweet 16 year old named Bella! It is living lockets that tell your story but really they are more like a walking scrapbook. You design them how you want them, to your style, and to tell your story! You choose one of the lockets, charms to put in it, a chain, some dangles, plates that fit in, and then it comes to you in this ADORABLE little package. The package was like giving yourself a fit when I received mine. They have so many charms to choose from- food, occupations, birthstones, letters, numbers, vintage, etc. you name it and they have it!
Recently, Ryan and I made the decision for me to go back to being a stay at home mom and working with Origami Owl and my bow business Bayou Bows. Well Thursday night I quit my job! I was supposed to a while ago but finally decided to take the plunge. We are in the process now. I'm excited and nervous at the same time! I am determined to succeed between my two businesses! We had Lexi's birthday party on December 8, 2012. I had been planning and crafting for months anxiously awaiting the day! It turned out just how I envisioned it and it was so much Fun! I wish I could upload pictures to show y'all. We had a 'hot dog bar', a photo area complete with props, and a Minnie Mouse bow candy bar! For favors we had salt dough shoe ornaments painted pink and bows for the girls with matching bowties for the little boys! We got some really great pictures from the photo wall and It was hands down, the best party ever! So much fun. Lexi really enjoyed herself and got so very spoiled, as usual. :) I can't wait to plan her party for next year! I hope it's as awesome as this one was!

Lexi 2 years Old

Lexi you are almost 25 months old! You turned two almost a month ago. These last two years have been the best years of my life and I am so very excited for the many more to come! You have grown and changed so much and we love you more every single day.
You weigh 23 lbs and 2 ounces an are 33 inches tall. Which puts you in the 5-10 percentile for your weight and 25th percentile for your height!
You are in cloth diapers still but today you started potty training. I am determined. You are so ready, I think it is just a learning process.
You are still tiny. You wear anywhere from 12 month clothes to 2T. 2T is huge on you but we try to make them Work!
You are wearing a size 4-5 shoe.
You are sleeping through the night, still co-sleeping. You head to bed around 10 and wake up around 7-8. You are taking one nap a day, usually an hour long.
Your talking has pretty much made a complete turn around! You talk constantly and people can understand about half , or more of what you say.
You are really into baby dolls, Minnie Mouse, and your little people. You play by yourself really great. Books are one of your favorite things still. And you are wanting a brother or sister!

Keep growing baby girl! We love you so much.
